Rules of the site
The Old Port of Montreal has
earned the highest rating as a family recreational site. We ask you
therefore to act as you should on a family site. (i.e. Do not act like
an ass, do not drink alcohol on site, act civilized please! Otherwise,
you are risking not just being asked to leave, but also putting the
future events on this site in jeopardy.) You MUST sign an insurance
liability waiver to access the site.
General race rules:
• You must read, understand and sign an insurance liability
waiver.
• You must register for the race.
• You must wear a helmet for the race. If you do not own a
helmet, you must borrow one.
• No jousting, pushing or shoving. Show good sportsmanship!
• You must obey the race marshalls or you will be asked to
leave.
• You must race within the limits of the track.
• Avoid injuring yourself or others.
STUDDED CLASS RULES
You must have studded tires to participate in the
studded class competitions. In order to race in the finals, you must
win in two elimination heats: quarter, and semi, to race in the finals.
If you are eliminated in a quarter or semi final (depending on the
number of participants) you can still earn a spot in the finals if your
team places third or higher in the relay race.
RUBBER CLASS RULES
Bicycles equipped with studded tires are not
allowed in this race. (Front only or rear only studded tires may be
allowed in advanced rubber class – if there are enough
inscriptions for this class. Commercially manufactured studded tires,
i.e. commuter tires you buy at a bike store for around $50 - $100 with
less then 100 studs, may also be allowed in the advanced rubber class).
Depending on the number of inscriptions, rubber class will have two
heats per rider. Qualifying heats in group of four will set the start
sequence for the finals time trials.
